My recent move means I’m relying on my 4G hotspot for internet at the moment. The range of this guy’s wifi isn’t that great so I’ve used another laptop to bridge the connection from the hotspot to it’s NIC and then plugged in a dd-wrt router in to that. It’s ugly but it was quick and it works (nothing that will freak over a double NAT right now). To keep it from puking or sleeping I decided that I want to send a bit of traffic every once in a while just in case. Rather than a continuous ping, I’ve got a batch that’ll do a normal 4 packet ping every 3 min. Probably of use to nobody but myself, it’s being archived for prosperity.
